How to disable Auto-Update in MT4

Are you annoyed by the constantly appearing Live-Update window when starting Metatrader 4? Or do you just want to be sure that the advisers / scripts will not stop working due to incompatibility after the next terminal update?

So, there is a way to disable this same Auto-Update in MT4.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to do this through the program’s interface, so we’re going to work around it

1. Close the terminal

2. Open the folder with the installed Metatrader 4 terminal, usually it is located in the Program Files directory.

3. Locate the LiveUpdate.exe file

4. Rename it as you like, but so that later you can remember what kind of file it is. For example, "LiveUpdateOFF.exe"

5. That's it, now we have stopped auto-updating the terminal. To enable it again, return the “LiveUpdate.exe” file to its original name.
